Few days ago we reported that 15″ Retina MacBook Pro users have been facing an irritating problem with the cooling fan inside of it. For minor tasks which are not even task intensive users noticed that the cooling fan used to peak giving out lots of noise, most users reported that the issue persisted when they tried to initiate file transfer into external drives. Apple released an update to address this and other issues with its SMC 1.1 update, the update requires OS X 10.7.5 or later for Lion users, or OS X 10.8.2 or later for Mountain Lion users.
Apple in its release update states that the update addresses Power Nap bug, Cooling fan speed bug and slow frame rate bug for graphic intensive games. More detailed explanation of the bug can be spotted here. Youtube videos and Apple Discussion threads indicated that Apple should have patched up the annoying bug much earlier, few users even complained that Apple overlooked a possible hardware fault with the newly replaced SanDisk SSDs instead of Samsung SSDs in the Retina MacBook pros. Some users were lucky enough to fight their way out and get a hardware replacement from Apple stores in the US upon complaining about the issues faced.
We recommend all our MacBook Pro Retina users to immediately update their devices.
